INTRODUCTION

Unity Kindergarten (TP) was introduced in 1976 under Rancangan Perhubungan Masyarakat (Social Relationship Plan) with 25 pilot classes. It was established in urban and rural areas especially the ones that have Neighbourhood Watch.

Unity Kindergarten was implemented to provide early education for children aged 4 to 6 years old to enable them to appreciate unity values, social life and preparation for formal education.

OBJECTIVES

  • To inclucate and nurture goodwill, neighborhood and unity among children.
  • To strengthen and nurture unity among the parents and within the society.
  • To extend physical ability and to practice the appropriate health and safety practice.
  • To encourage children to practice virtues.
  •

To practice moral/religion values in daily life.

  •

To inculcate curiosity through various senses toward building cognitive, reasoning and problem solving as well as to explore knowledge.

  • To respect and use Malay language as the principle language and English language as the second language.
  • To extend the concept of unique self-image in building personality and positive characteristics.
  • To extend creativity and aesthetic values.

CO-CURRICULUM

  • Refers to one of the activities/programmes that is emphasized in the preschool education through the Unity Kindergarten..
  • The main objective of its implementation is to be the mechanism to inculcate and instill unique self-image attitude and balanced personality among children.
  • Co-curriculum also plays as a platform for parents/guardians and local society to meet and interact in the social activities through programs implemented. Gatherings and meets conducted through class activities and co-curriculum would contribute to positive impact in moulding healthy socialization among the local society.

  • The activities are â€‹Fardhu Ain Class and Arts Competition.
  • Music and Culture (Drawing, Coloring, Reading, Story-Telling, Dancing, Poetry, Uniform Bodies, Musical Games, And Patriotic Song Competition, Sports And Games, Tabikarama, Green Earth Program, Field Trips, Historical Day Celebration, Special Day Celebration, Birthday Celebration, and Various Racial Festivities).
  • The socialization polar that frequently occurs will create relationship, interaction and spirit of unity among the children, parents and society at large. According to the analysis of the “Kajian Keberkesanan Kurikulum dan Ko-Kurikulum Serta Latihan Guru Tabika Perpaduan” conducted by Prof. Dr. Fatimah Daud in 2007, co-curriculum activities have contributed to the promotion of unity among races. The implementation was found to be good and satisfactory. Therefore, measures to enhance the implementation of the co-curriculum activities should be continued.
